Artist's Biography


Praised for her artistic sensitivity and depth of performance, Jung-Eun Kim has appeared as soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Baden-Baden, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogota, the symphonic Orchestra of Chilly, the Porto Radio Orchestra, the Haydn Orchestra, the Valencia Orchestra, the Nuernberger Symphoniker. In her home country she performed with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Suwon, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Kwangju, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Busan, the KBS Symphony Orchestra, the Korean Symphony Orchestra, and the Daegu Symphony Orchestra.

As soloist she has given recitals at Ho-Am Art Hall, LG Art Center, Ceramic Palace Hall and Kuhn Art Hall, in South Korea. In 1999 she began a successful career appearing in concertos with orchestras in Europe and in solo recitals around the world. She performed at New York's Carnegie Hall, and has appeared at the Cathedral of Sainte-Croix-des-Armeniens, the Festival of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, the candlelight festival of Saint-Pierre-sur-l'Hate, the Eurofestival Musica al Castello, the Festival Santo Stefano, the Frutillar Music Festival, the Dortmund Mozart association concert, and the Shigeru Kawai Festival.

Jung-Eun has also performed for the F. Chopin Association in Paris, at the concert celebrating the 150th anniversary of Mozart’s birth and has appeared at the Sal d'actes Casa de la Musica, the Casa de Cultura I Joventut, Saint-Leger-en-Yvelines and the Salle Cortot.

Winner of the first prize and audiences’ prize at the Luis Sigall international competition, in Chile, as well as the Grand prize at the Dong-A competition, in South Korea, Jung-Eun also obtained several first prizes in other Korean national competitions such as the Eum-Youn and Eum-Hyeop competitions. Internationally, she won second prize at the Porto international competition, in Portugal, fourth prize at the Busoni international competition, in Italy and third prize at the Jose Iturbi international competition in Spain.

As a graduate of Seoul high school of music and art, Jung-Eun was awarded the Bachelor and Master Degree at Seoul National University in Korea. After establishing herself in the European musical scene, she obtained the diploma of Kuenstlerische Ausbildung, Konzert Examen at the Hochschule fuer Musik in Karlsruhe, Germany, as well the diploma of concertiste at Ecole normale de musique of Paris, in France.

Jung-Eun is presently on the piano faculty at Ehwa Woman's University in Seoul, South Korea. Her latest CD with works by Chopin has just been released.
