A native of Seoul, South Korea, Hyuncheong Park won top prizes at the Valentino Bucchi International Music Competition in Rome, Italy, the Popputsatkis Flute Competition in Boston, the New England Conservatory Concerto Competition, the National Flutist Association High School Competition, as well as three major competitions in her home country: E-Wha, Chosun, and Dong-A Music Competitions.
Ms. Park has given many recitals in Germany, Italy, and Boston, as well as in Korea. She has performed as a soloist with the Dae-Joen Philharmonic, the KBS Orchestra, the NEC Symphony, the Pan-Asian Chamber Orchestra, the Hungary Budapest Chamber and the Korean Symphony Orchestra, among others. She was also a substitute flutist for the New World Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Micheal Tilson Thomas, and a member of the contemporary music ensemble Callithumpian.
Ms. Park studied at the Juilliard School with Julius Baker and at the Hochschule für Musik, in Munich, Germany, where she completed her Bachelor of Music degree as a student of Andras Adorjan. She continued her studies in the USA, at the New England Conservatory, where she received a scholarship to study with Paula Robinson while earning a Master of Music degree and a Graduate Performance. In 2007 she received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Boston University and was the recipient of the Susan McDonald scholarship.
Currently she teaches at Seoul National University, Chongshin University, Yewon, and Seoul Arts high school. In 2009 she has been invited as an adjudicator of the Popputsakis Flute Competition and has been a recipient of a grant from Seoul Arts Foundation.
