Welcome to the Second
Musica Domani
International Composition Prize
Submission Deadline: June 8, 2012

"What an honor to be associated with this wonderful International
Composition Prize (Musica Domani), whose first year gathered so many splendid and original pieces by young and emerging composers.  I am proud to be on this jury, and gratified to read so many imaginative and emotional compositions.  Young composers today invoke a world of impulses, inspirations, traditions, and styles – you never know what to expect!  But the quality and technique of this new generation is awesome to behold, and an honor to judge."

Musica Domani International Composition Prize is now in its second edition. By encouraging composers of all nationalities and ethnicities (with no age limit) to submit their works to the careful scrutiny of the prestigious international jury, Musica Domani Prize seeks the selection and promotion of new compositions  through its performance and by means of a live recording. In addition, the competition facilitates the interaction between performers and composers.

Musica Domani seeks short (up to 15 minutes), original scores for each of the three categories
from composers of all ages and nationalities for the presentation of awards in 2012. Works of any notation, style and aesthetic will be accepted (except for compositions including prepared piano and electronics). The compositions may or may not have been performed before. Composers may send multiple applications (up to three works). The competition will begin accepting online applications starting in (and not before) March 2012.

We regret to have to charge an application fee. Efforts to obtain sponsorship are underway and we hope to make the application process fee-free in the near future.

On behalf of all the people involved in the Musica Domani Composition Competition I offer all the candidates my very best wishes and... good luck!
